Cookie Policy
Last updated: 31 August 2026 — Como, Italy
VIMUN uses cookies and browser local storage (localStorage) only for necessary technical purposes required for the operation of the platform and the user session. These technologies are not used for advertising or user profiling.
1. What is a cookie?
A cookie is a small text file that a website stores on your device through your web browser. VIMUN also uses browser local storage (localStorage) to store limited technical information needed for the operation of the platform and the user session. These technologies are used only for necessary technical purposes and are not used for advertising or user profiling.
2. vimun_auth
Purpose: Indicates that the user is authenticated and that an active authentication session exists. Duration: 7 days. Type: Strictly necessary.
3. vimun_refresh
Purpose: Stores a session renewal token used to maintain the user's authenticated session. Security: The cookie is HttpOnly, so it cannot be accessed by JavaScript, and it is restricted to the authentication endpoints. Duration: 7 days. Type: Strictly necessary.
4. vimun_locale
Purpose: Remembers the user's selected language. Available languages: French, English, Italian, and Arabic. Duration: 1 year. Type: Preference.
5. vimun_cookie_consent
Purpose: Remembers whether the user has interacted with the cookie notice and their related preference. Duration: 1 year. Type: Preference.
6. Access token — in-memory storage
Your short-lived access token is stored only in the browser tab's memory while you are using the platform. The access token:
- is not stored in a cookie;
- is not stored in localStorage;
- is cleared when the tab is closed; and
- is cleared when you log out.
It is used only to maintain your authenticated session while you use the platform.
7. Audience measurement
To produce traffic statistics (number of visits, pages viewed, country of origin), VIMUN uses GoatCounter, an open-source tool hosted on our own servers. It sets no cookies, uses no storage in your browser and does not keep your IP address: only aggregated, anonymous data is produced. This measurement therefore does not require your consent.
8. Third-party cookies and similar technologies
VIMUN does not use third-party cookies for advertising, tracking, or profiling. Some third-party services may use cookies or similar technologies when you actively use their functionality:
- Google Sign-In: when you choose to sign in with Google, a Google sign-in window is opened. Google may use cookies or similar technologies as described in Google's own policies.
- Stripe: when you make a payment, Stripe Elements is loaded on the payment page. Stripe may use cookies or similar technologies as described in Stripe's own policies.
These third-party technologies are used only when you choose to use the relevant functionality and are subject to the respective third party's privacy and cookie policies.
9. Managing your preferences
The VIMUN platform uses necessary cookies and preference cookies, as described in this policy. The cookie notice provides information about the cookies used by the platform and can be dismissed by selecting “OK”. Because some cookies are necessary for the platform to function, disabling or blocking them through your browser settings may affect the operation of the platform. You can delete cookies at any time through your browser settings.
