At a time when major global challenges call for more dialogue, cooperation and mutual understanding, VIMUN was born from a strong belief: young people must be able to become genuine actors of international dialogue. VIMUN is an international Model United Nations conference that combines training, diplomacy, communication and leadership with hands-on experience of multilateral cooperation.
The project and its structure
VIMUN is a project run by Associazione Alternativa, an Italian association — non-partisan, non-denominational and non-profit — active in education, training, international cooperation and the promotion of active citizenship and intercultural dialogue.

Association behind the project
The VIMUN journey
The programme combines online training on the United Nations system, international governance and the Sustainable Development Goals with a diplomatic simulation in which participants represent states, negotiate, build alliances and craft shared solutions. The goal: to develop concrete skills in diplomacy, negotiation, analysis, communication and multilateral cooperation.
Marrakech, a space for dialogue
The conference takes place in Marrakech, a city at the crossroads of Africa, Europe and the Arab world, historically shaped by exchange between cultures and peoples. This choice is central to VIMUN’s identity: making Morocco a meeting point for African, European, Arab and international youth.
Founding edition
The first edition — VIMUN 2026
Held in Marrakech from 27 April to 1 May 2026, the first edition was the founding milestone of the project: it brought together 40 participants across two committees — the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the Human Rights Council (UNHRC) — around a complete Model United Nations format: committee work, debates, negotiations and resolution drafting.

The next edition will be held in Marrakech from 15 to 20 March 2027. VIMUN aims to make it an annual flagship event in Morocco, recognised by universities, institutions and civil-society actors.
